Since 2008, an energy label has been mandatory for the delivery, sale, or rental of a home. An energy label provides insight into a home's energy efficiency. Only a certified energy performance consultant may determine the energy label.
The energy label shows which energy-saving measures are possible. The label classes range from A++++ (very energy-efficient) to G (least energy-efficient). The label also provides an overview of important home characteristics, such as the type of home, insulation, glazing, and heating systems.

How is the energy label determined?
When determining the energy label, the following is taken into account:
- The insulation of the house
- The installations for heating, cooling, ventilation and hot water
This calculates the home's maximum energy requirement, expressed in kWh per m² of usable floor space per year. The energy label report is clearly presented and not only shows the energy performance but also provides advice on possible improvements to reduce energy consumption.
The energy label is determined on-site and combined with construction drawings or floor plans, including a clear technical description. Since January 1, 2021, the energy label has been determined according to NTA 8800, the latest calculation method for the energy performance of homes.
